 Yeungnam University (YU), led by President CHOI Oe-chool, announced a new leap toward educational innovation with the grand opening of its Smart Education Center on January 14. The opening ceremony, held at the Smart Education Center, was attended by over 50 key officials, including President CHOI Oe-chool, Director of the Education and Innovation PARK Seung-woo, and Director of International Education KIM Jae-chun. 

 The Smart Education Center spans approximately 360 pyeong and integrates state-of-the-art technologies into a comprehensive educational space. It is equipped with administrative facilities for remote education planning and instructional design, next-generation integrated studio spaces, and dedicated areas for fostering one-person creators. Notably, the next-generation integrated studio is built on an NDI (Network Device Interface) platform, featuring advanced virtual reality technology, such as an XR studio. It also includes multi-purpose studios optimized for various needs, such as interactive studios that enhance teacher-student engagement, lecture recording studios with a white horizon background, and content creation facilities. To cultivate students’ creativity, the center offers a dedicated YouTube studio and editing rooms, enabling students to produce and present their own content.

 The opening of the Smart Education Center marks a significant milestone in YU's efforts to establish cutting-edge educational infrastructure that leads the Fourth Industrial Revolution. By providing students with advanced learning experiences and equipping educators with tools for innovative teaching methods, the center is expected to elevate the quality and competitiveness of education at YU.

 In his address, President CHOI Oe-chool expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the establishment of the Smart Education Center, stating, “Today’s event is a crucial milestone for educational innovation at YU. The Smart Education Center is not merely a collection of technologies but a space designed to foster a creative education ecosystem that supports better learning environments. This center represents a new chapter in the era of AI and 3D educational content. We will continue to strive to provide the best education for YU students, keeping pace with the changes of our times.”

YU has been laying the groundwork for remote and smart education since the opening of its Multimedia Support Center in 2002. In 2005, it became the first private university to be selected as the Daegu-Gyeongbuk regional e-learning support center. In 2015, YU achieved global recognition by ranking third in the e-learning category of the "2014 Educational Innovation Awards" presented by the Wharton School. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, YU transitioned seamlessly to online classes for all courses, thanks to its robust remote education infrastructure. By 2023, YU had established a global-standard lecture portal system and virtualized servers based on big data and AI. Since 2024, under the name "Smart Education Center," YU has been pioneering a new paradigm in future education by establishing innovative next-generation integrated studios and diverse educational support infrastructure.
