At the 2025 YU Korean Speech Contest, our student Nomsa Faith Nungu from Malawi was awarded the Excellence Award! The theme of this year’s contest was “UNDERSTANDING THE SAEMAUL SPIRIT”, and Nomsa shared a heartfelt speech reflecting her deep understanding of Korea’s development and the Saemaul spirit. In her speech, Nomsa spoke about how she first became interested in Korea through K-dramas and K-pop, her experiences learning about Korea’s history and the Saemaul spirit at PSPS, and her dream of serving as a bridge between Korea and Malawi as a global citizen. She shared,
“The spirit of diligence, self-help and cooperation has inspired me greatly. I hope to contribute to building happy and strong communities by connecting Korea and Malawi.”
Nomsa’s achievement and inspiring speech served as a meaningful reminder to PSPS students of the importance of pursuing their dreams and embracing global citizenship.
