MEN Kung Country : Cambodia Master of Public Policy in Economic Development at Park Chung Hee School of Policy and Saemaul / Yeungnam University "In fact upon my studying in the PSPS of Yeungnam University, I earned a lot of knowledge and experiences such as the economic development strategy and political aspect, multi-experience from field visit and study which linking to relative practice working and living, especially all subjects of Seminar class are provided the good experience that what my country needs to be including Saemaul Undong practice and theory."

Why did you decide to study Saemaul UNDONG in the PSPS?

Based on the Saemaul Undong practices and Theories that I have studied at PSPS of Yeungnam University, Republic of Korea, I clearly understand that the Saemaul Undong can be a best paradigms of community development. Under the Saemaul Undong strategy and activities were implemented from the beginning until present Saemaul Undong was explored the self-country community development and enhance its extent to other developing countries. Therefore, I expect that this kind of community development very possibility to apply in my country during this effort attempt to develop surround country. Otherwise, Saemual Undong was providing and supporting any projects to many countries in the world. Moreover, in the Park Chung Hee School of Policy and Saemaul (PSPS) curriculum and study program included the original Saemaul Undong practice and theory from starting point which initiated and established by President Park Chung Hee himself. Following the achievement of Saemaul Undong linked to relative perspective development goal aspect as I have interested such as below.

  • To develop a modern, comfortable and convenient social community
  • To establish companies that workers can be proud of and where sustained growth is achieved in a cooperative and trusting working environment
  • To develop and maintain a sound and healthy society whose members are able to enjoy pleasant and intimate relationships
  • To build a continuously improving nation that everyone will be proud of. Such a society is sustained by a mature citizenry, substantial economic development, and a culture strengthened by order and morality.

What is your most impressive experience in the PSPS?

In fact upon my studying in the PSPS of Yeungnam University, I earned a lot of knowledge and experiences such as the economic development strategy and political aspect, multi-experience from field visit and study which linking to relative practice working and living, especially all subjects of Seminar class are provided the good experience that what my country needs to be including Saemaul Undong practice and theory. In addition I can meet my all good professors and my follower students. Moreover the most impressive experience that I got from PSPS is picture of well developing approach of Korean government and Korean culture as a significant contribution with community development in Korea from early 1960s until present.

Please tell us what your job in your country is.

Nowadays, I work as the government officer for sub-national government.
My position: Chief of Administration Office of Provincial Hall and Member of Development Plan establishment.

With your Saemaul UNDONG knowledge, what do you want to do for your country?

Share my knowledge and experience that I studied from PSPS of YU, Korea to all coworkers in my organization by include Saemaul Undong theory in other meeting or training course and/or local events. Find any cooperation project which related to Saemaul Undong project due to apply in my country and implement from pilot project in low level of administration. Develop the achievement report of that project for basic experience of next project. By the way according to the above revealed I really appreciated to approach develop my community development with best part of Saemaul Undong of Korea.

    • Duties
      Manage administration office and assistant director of the provincial administration. Responsible on the procedure framework as below:
      Recoring all documents from any sector which are involve the athority, development partner, prvate secotr, and community relation.
      Process and transmise the input document to each level of leader and take return back to office for next performance as provice servise for public administration.
      Kept and storeg all the achives of provincial administration and response while needs in necessary case follow particular aspect.
      Prepare administrative documents for provincial administration and send out to distination organization or personal.
      Coordinate any procedure which related to the provincial adiministration factors and provide the technical assistant for all departments, municipality/districts, communes sangkats, local and international organization and private sector.
